Astrid Garden by UBM decorated with murals by painter Antonina Zablocké
The entrance area of the Astrid Garden residential complex in Prague 7 - Holešovice has been enlivened by artistic paintings. Ukrainian artist Antonina Zablocká took care of painting the corridors at the main entrances of the buildings. Illustrations in the format of large-scale wallpaper depict iconic places of Holešovice in a realistic style. The main goal of the artist was to capture the life and character of the district and at the same time to make the whole space more cosy. There are 138 apartments in Astrid Garden and the last units are available for immediate occupation. The BREEAM-certified apartment complex comprises 8 buildings and was designed by the world-renowned and award-winning Bogle Architects.
"When completing the Astrid Garden residential complex, we decided to create an artistic representation of the entrance area. We approached painter Antonina Zablocka, whose work perfectly matches timeless character of the complex. The new original paintings at the main entrances sensitively complement the architectural concept and represent another element to make the residents' living experience more pleasant as soon as they enter their homes," says Josef Wiedermann, Managing Director of UBM Development Czechia.
The Kiev-born fashion designer and illustrator has created a total of six murals in the entrance areas of intimate low-rise new buildings in Astrid Garden. She also created one painting located in the hallway of a renovated early 20th century building. In her own words, Antonina Zablocká used a combination of two techniques in her work: "This process allowed me to keep the liveliness and spontaneity of the lines while refining the details and creating harmonious compositions. At the same time, the work itself was an important source of inspiration for me. I walked around the neighborhood, took photos, drew sketches, and looked for the right moments when the space really came alive."
